We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been accepted as the newest member of the Coalition for The Decarbonisation of Road Transport by the Green Finance Institute.

What is the Coalition for the Decarbonisation of Road Transport

The Coalition for the Decarbonisation of Road Transport (CDRT) has been established by the Green Finance Institute to help unlock the financial barriers to the decarbonisation of road transport.  This will help to accelerate the development of the infrastructure needed to support the UK’s transition to a zero-carbon and climate resilient economy.   The coalition brings together an expert multi-stakeholder group comprised of transport organisations, financial institutions, trade associations and professional services to help identify the most promising market solutions to scale up the investment in zero emission road transport and supporting infrastructure.

In November 2021 the CDRT published the report Road to Zero: Unlocking public and private capital to decarbonise road transport, which focuses on two key aspects of the road transport decarbonisation challenge:

– Purchase and leasing of electric vehicles by consumers
– Accelerating the roll out of electric vehicle charging infrastructure

The report comprises a market-led review of the barriers to mobilising capital towards these areas and proposes a portfolio of 18 demonstrator solutions, co-designed alongside members of the coalition, to address the challenges identified.

What we’ll be doing

We’ve joined the CDRT to help progress demonstrator solutions that have been identified as potential levers to help accelerate the installation of EV charging infrastructure across the UK.  In the coming weeks we’ll be communicating more about our involvement and our progress within the coalition.

What is the Green Finance Institute

The Green Finance Institute was established in 2019 as a direct response to a key policy recommendation made by the industry-led Green Finance Taskforce to the UK Government in March 2018.  It is an independent, commercially focused organisation backed by government and led by bankers.

Sitting at the nexus of the public and private sectors, the Green Finance Institute convenes and leads sectoral coalitions of global experts, that identify and unlock barriers to investment towards impactful, real-economy outcomes, that will benefit our environment, society, and business.

These coalitions design, develop and launch portfolios of scalable financial solutions that accelerate sector specific transitions to a low carbon future.
